1. How might we?
How might we make ordering coffee for pick up or delivery for daily commuters more seamless?

2. Understanding the problem.
Target audience
Daily commuters between the ages of 19 - 44 that drink coffee (before or during the workday).
Problem statement
Daily commuters sometimes lack the time or find it difficult to re-route to pick up coffee orders on their daily commutes.
Proposed solution
Design a coffee application that allows daily commuters to order, edit, and pick up/deliver coffee drinks from nearby cafés.
3. Ideation
I started out by creating a user journey map to visualize the process a user persona, James, will follow to search, find, and make a recipe to establish a more human perspective of the user's pain points.

4. The design process.
First, I created a sitemap to establish the website's information architecture. This helped me decide where menus, buttons, text, and sections should be placed on the website.
Next, I storyboarded the app concept. The low-fidelity wireframes were a relatively quick process, so I drew them pretty quickly using the Crazy 8's format.

I designed high-fidelity mockups to establish the app's semi-final designs. Then, I prototyped the wireframes to test the app's user workflow.
For the usability study, I interviewed 4 participants (3 males & 1 female) aged 25-55 who drink coffee and work in a medium-sized city.
I also designed a sticker sheet to establish design consistency and leverage re-usable components.

Get to Know our Chefs curates a monthly selection of chefs with personalized recipes.
This was the most interesting idea for me to work on. Based on your pantry is a great feature for someone who would rather get recipe suggestions than find new them manually.
Overall, I learned initial designs are not always the best solution and that usability studies should always be conducted to avoid designer bias and provide valuable insights into the final version of a design. I am excited about further conducting usability tests, market research, and possibly developing the app.
